Bantry is an Irish market town located in south west county Cork. Bantry sits on Bantry bay and is steeped in maritime history. Its about 1 and a ½ hours drive south west of Cork City and is… close to the Kerry towns of Kenmare and Killarney. If you are a golf enthuasist then the nearby bantry golf club is well worth a round. If you are fond of the outdoors then there are walks and beaches in abundance. Bantry lies in the middle of an ancient region which has the greatest concentration of Megalithic & Neolithic monuments in Europe – these monuments pre-date the pyramids. Apparently the first people to have come to Ireland landed in Donemark Bantry. No trip to Bantry is complete without a visit to Bantry House
