Cork Airport has changed considerably over the last few years. And its been a bit of a political football over the years.

We are told that Cork Airport can handle large planes such as the ones that come from the US. But the large planes from the new country must land in a certain part of the old country called Shannon before going anywhere else, except the ones that manage to dodge Shannon and make it all the way to Dublin. There is political magnetism in that reclaimed land pas loin du Lisseycasey and it pulls all metallic flying objects to it in a way that might have fixed Alcock and Brown’s course due south of Clifden.

There are no direct flights from Cork to Shannon. Must be something to do with the insurmountable Kerry mountains or stellar land links between airports that make air travel between incomprehensible.

And what is Ryanair doing ? Lots of flights to Shannon and even a flight to Germany from Kerry. But Cork is a different story. Plenty of O’Leary’s in Cork boy. The discerning Cork punter has it sussed. Michael thinks his namesakes will jam up the well oiled machine zealously demanding plane access 39 minutes before departure and wearing 6 layers of clothes to avoid the checked baggage fees. Or maybe its that football that O’leary is kicking to see if he can get the glue off.
