The Munster Arms Hotel is a street side Hotel in Bandon county Cork. It was once called Lee’s Hotel and under that name was visited by Michael Collins on August 22, 1922. Collins and his entourage left Lee’s and within 30 minutes he had been executed at Beal na Blath. If you want to stay in Bandon or want a convenient location on the main road en route elsewhere then this hotel is alright. It’s not a modern hotel and the rates are OK (not cheap) and there is no elevator / lift. However the staff do compensate with a cheery, friendly attitude and the breakfast is very good. There are 30 en suite bedrooms with tea/coffee making facilities, telephone, remote control TV (don’t expect a flat panel though), radio and hairdryer. The atmosphere at the hotel is probably what makes it and functions are held here so you might get entrenched in a local wedding - that can be very good or very annoying depending on what you are looking for. There is no leisure centre on site but guests of the Munster Arms Hotel can use the leisure facilities at the local Bandon Leisure Center for a nominal fee payable direct to the leisure centre.
