The West Cork Heritage Center, is located at Christchurch, Bandon. The building dates back to the early 1600’s and is built on the site of a Danish fort. It was one of the earliest Protestant churches in Ireland before being de-consecrated after 363 years in 1973. The Heritage Centre now offers information and runs exhibitions about ancient Ireland, ring forts, crannogs, archaeology, nature, crafts and other subjects. You learn about the wheelright and harness maker and can visit the country kitchen and dairy. The west Cork Heritage Centre is open Monday-Saturday 10AM to 6pm and Sundays from 2pm to 6pm.
